What is The Enneagram? What is this Blog? Why are you Writing it?

If you are visiting this website, chances are you know a little bit about the Enneagram. Maybe a friend told you about it, or you stumbled upon a reference in a psychology book. Or, maybe you know nothing.

There are already countless books, websites, and classes already devoted to the Enneagram, many of them written and taught by completely competent people. Why do we need ANOTHER one? What can I offer to the vast, consuming black hole that is the Internet?

I want to create a conversation. A back-and-forth. A closed circuit of thought, if you will.

For all the media available, unless you are enrolled in a class or have a friend who happens to be trained in the Enneagram, there is nowhere to simply talk about it. Have your questions answered. Share dorky jokes about type structure.

Yes, you can read a book and become an expert. But all that jargon can get confusing.

“Oh, he’s a one-on-one two with a three wing and social tendencies, but only when his defense mechanism is triggered by a particularly stressful seven or eight.”

WHAT?????

This is a blog for people at any stage of the Enneagram journey. Whether you’re just curious about it, a psychology major, or someone who uses or teaches the Enneagram in your daily life.

Although the Enneagram has become a very popular tool among a small circle of adults, it is still remains just out of reach to many people not ‘in the know.’

This is a study meant for the modern world, not just bookie philosophers.

(AKA, me.)

In preface, Charles T. Tart opens Helen Palmer’s most popular book on the Enneagram by saying, “I have never met anyone who was not interested in personality, particularly in finding out more about their own personality or type.”

If this sounds like you, come on in. Take off your coat. Stay a while.

To start, check out About the Enneagram, or jump right into the Blog.

In the interest of helping people find this website via search engines, here are some common misspellings of the word “Enneagram” : anneagram, eneagram, epiogram, ennegram, ennagram, enagram, enegram, ennigram, enneagrams. The Enneagram is also known as the “Enneagon” and in Spanish as the “Eneagrama”. (Thank you Enneagram Institute)
